We had a lot of questions when we were new to lash extensions too! We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions, but please do not hesitate to contact us if we've missed anything.
Who should get lash extensions? Working girls, students, mommies, beauty lovers... Who wouldn't want to say goodbye to mascara and wake up beautiful and ready to go?!
There are, however, a few restrictions. If you've had recent eye surgery or a recent eye infection, we'd love to meet you someday but now just isn't the time. Also, if you have an allergy to synthetic materials or adhesives, lash extensions just aren't for you, but keep in mind, there is always the lash lift and tint!
What type of lash extensions do you provide? We provide semi-permanent, individual lash extensions. We offer 3 different option: 1. Classic - one lash extension per natural lash (our first and true love!) 2. Volume - multiple lighter weight lash extensions per natural lash 3. Hybrid - a combination of Classic and Volume
Will lash extensions make my lashes fall out? When properly applied, lash extensions will not cause the natural lash to fall out prematurely. We carefully select the appropriate length and weight for each individual, and ensure that each extension is applied to a single lash. We do not use cluster lashes, which weigh down the natural lash and cause premature shedding. Just remember, your natural lashes have their own cycle of growing and shedding. You are much more likely to notice when you lose a lash with an extension attached to it, so don't be alarmed. With proper application and care, you will be able to wear lash extensions continuously if you so wish, without harming your natural lashes!
What type of products does Primp use? Primp uses high quality products, including pharmaceutical grade glue, purchased directly from local suppliers. I've had lash extensions in the past and they weren't so great. Will Primp lashes be different? We're sorry your first experience wasn't a good one, but we'd love the opportunity to change your mind! Unfortunately, not every lash technician provides the same high quality service, using quality products. We've heard stories of rushed appointments, clusters being passed off as individual extensions, and even "self-taught" technicians (cringe!). We are certified, experienced, and aren't afraid to take our time to ensure you leave with the best set of lashes possible.
I would like lash extensions for a special occasion. When should I come in? Lash extensions are fabulous for special occasions and events, but we suggest giving them a trial run before the big day. In case of an uncommon allergic reaction, we recommend coming in for a full set 2-3 weeks prior to your event, and coming in for a fill a little closer to.
How often will I need a fill? Since the extensions will fall out with the natural lashes, fills are dependant on your own lash cycle and personal preference. Clients are generally in need of a touch up between 2 and 4 weeks, but some choose to come a little sooner, or stretch it a bit longer.
I'm booked in! What should I do prior to my appointment? Try to arrive without any eye makeup and do not curl your lashes that day.
What should I expect during my appointment? Your lash extension appointment is the perfect time to take a break from your busy day and enjoy a little rest and relaxation! Get comfortable on one of our beds, close your eyes, maybe even catch a quick cat nap, and wake up to beautiful new lashes.
I've been primped! How can I make my look last? A little TLC can definitely extend the life of your lashes! Here is a list of guidelines:
Avoid water and steam for 24 hours after your appointment
Use oil free makeup remover (we have a great one!) and a q-tip to remove eye makeup
Use oil free products in general (oil breaks down the bond of the adhesive)
Do not use a washcloth directly on your eyes (the extensions will get tangled in the fibres)
If you choose to use mascara, use one specifically formulated for lash extensions (available at Primp)
Do not use an eyelash curler
You can also extend the life of your lashes with a sealer
Avoid touching (we know you'll adore your new lashes but it's best not to pick or pull)
Help! I got a bad set of extensions at another studio! What now? Unfortunately, not everyone offering this service has been properly trained and certified. If you've fallen victim to a lash extension disaster, we would be happy to help. Get in touch with us to determine the best course of action, which will likely include removing the existing extensions, and may require you to take a break before getting a new set.
What is a lash lift? Lash lifts are the newest craze in semi-permanent lash curling that works with your natural lashes. This is unlike the traditional perming system where lashes are wrapped around a sponge rod, which can cause the lashes to over-curl and look short and stubby. Instead, lash lift uses different sizes of silicone pads and each lash is “lifted” individually, creating a perfect curl for your lash length. With lifted lashes, your eyes immediately open up and lashes appear fuller and longer! A lash tint is the perfect complimentary service, darkening your newly lifted lashes.
How long will a lash lift & tint last? Results will last between 4 and 6 weeks, with proper aftercare.
How can I extend the life of my lash lift & tint? As with lash extensions, there are some guidelines that can help extend your new look. 24-48 hours after the service:
Avoid water and extreme heat
Avoid touching and rubbing your lashes
Avoid tanning (to not fade the tint)
Avoid makeup
Ongoing:
Avoid harsh products including waterproof mascara
Do not use an eyelash curler
Use oil free products (oil causes the tint to fade)
What is your cancellation policy? We require 24 hours notice for all cancellations. Due to high demand, 100% cancellation fee will apply to cancellations and reschedules less than 24 hours in advance, as well as to no shows.
